The intellect of a dog,
There are those who know how
To handle a hedgehog,
There are those who can see the
Hunger in the eyes of a rat,
But who can say what goes on
In the mind of a cat.
There are those who know how
To ride on a horse,
And to leave crocs alone
When they're hungry of course,
There are those who teach monkeys
To do this or that,
But there's no plausible way
To try training a cat.
There are those who can see
The despair of a sow,
There are those who are humoured
By contempt of a cow.
There are some who see lust
In the face of a bat,
But none know what shows
With the grin of a cat.
One can hear a thin whisper
In the flight of a deer,
And hear the mouse scuttle
When someone comes near,
One can hear crickets stop
With the lift of a hat,
But noone hears when
On the prowl is a cat.
Some may study squirrels
While in their den sharing,
Some may look at whales
For each other caring,
Or the generous old bear
Giving his mate a pat,
But most of us care for
A most selfish cat.
So why in this age
Are dogs thought so smart,
And some small creatures kept
That make some people start,
When the one who is so
Is lying on your mat,
Making all the demands
The answered to cat.

What would you give, to stare at the world from afar, inhale the silence and take my hand, for you are my only shining star.
